Starting 1 September, Acting Minister of Social and Family development (MSF) Chan Chun Sing will be promoted to full minister, while Acting Minister for Manpower Tan Chuan-jin will lose his National Development portfolio.
These are two of the key changes announced on Wednesday in a cabinet reshuffle affecting 10 of its members.
Chan will retain his defence portfolio, where he currently serves as Second Minister, and Tan will continue as Acting Minister for Manpower.
Minister of State for Health and Manpower Dr Amy Khor will be promoted to Senior Minister of State, alongside Josephine Teo, who serves in the ministries of Finance and Transport.
Meanwhile, Dr Mohamad Maliki bin Osman and Sim Ann will both receive promotions to Ministers of State. Maliki will continue in the ministries of defence and national development, while Sim will stay at the ministries of education, as well as communications and information.
Joining the cabinet next month is Jurong GRC Member of Parliament Desmond Lee, who will be appointed a Minister of State in the Ministry of National Development. Chua Chu Kang GRC MP Low Yen Ling will make her debut in cabinet in October, being appointed as Parliamentary Secretary in the MSF.
