Dear The Real Singapore,
I refer to Khaw Boon Wan's plan to have a master plan for underground. Click on

Minister Khaw is mulling plans to have more underground facilities for Singaporeans to work, live and play underground to cope with the 6.9 million White Paper.
He compared it to Citylink Mall in City Hall and said that it is possible to expand underground spaces.
Previously, I have worked in an underground facility and it wasn't really the best experience. In a hospital, the mortuary is always located at the basement as it is the place where they ship out bodies easily to the casket drivers.
While working there, it had no windows, so I wasn't even aware that it is raining, thunder, lightning or sunny days. Research has shown that depression occurs when people cannot see the outside weather. That is why most patients and hospitals prefer their windows to be able to see nice scenery.
Many times, we felt isolated because most of the time, our other colleagues in other department could see out of the windows and tell us how good the weather was to go jogging after work etc.
The ventilation was also poor because at the basement level, the air-conditioning somehow didn't work properly and the basement level always get short-changed.
My friend who is in building science said that even if there is good air-con, basement level usually gets stale air because the air doesn't circulate out. When you are located in an air-con room in higher stories, there is at least some air circulation when you open the door or window.
Sometimes, the hawker auntie at food centre also joked with us and told us that after lunch, we will soon go to the dungeon below.
Minister Khaw, if going below or the dungeon is the way to go to cram 6.9 million, I advise you to buy a unit for your family to live in first and sell away your private property. Leadership by example.
