Birthday visit turns into tragedy

When relatives could not reach Madam Tay to wish her a happy birthday, they trooped down to her three-room flat at Stirling Road on Tuesday night.
And when she didn't answer the door, they feared the worst and called the Singapore Civil Defence Force and the police for help.
By the time paramedics found Madam Tay, there was a smell coming from her flat. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
One neighbour said Madam Tay may have fallen and hit her head.
